Thank you for using Knoself :)
Section titled “Thank you for using Knoself :)”“Knoself” refers to the Knoself team (hereinafter referred to as “we”), who legally own and operate the Knoself mobile software (hereinafter also referred to as “Knoself”).
We know that personal privacy information is important to you, so we are committed to protecting the personal information and privacy of users (hereinafter collectively referred to as “users” or “you”) who use our products and services (hereinafter referred to as “Knoself Services”).
Our goal is to help you meet yourself in time as much as possible. While providing convenience, we collect as little information about you as possible and protect your privacy as much as possible.
This Privacy Policy will help you understand:

I. What information we collect and how we use it
Section titled “I. What information we collect and how we use it”We collect your personal information mainly so that you can use Knoself Services more easily and satisfactorily.
1. Data you actively provide (local storage)
Section titled “1. Data you actively provide (local storage)”The core data you generate when using Knoself, including but not limited to journals, time records, tags, and goals, is stored entirely locally on your iOS device. Core commitment: Your record data belongs to you. We cannot access it and will not upload it to our servers.
2. iCloud sync data (optional)
Section titled “2. iCloud sync data (optional)”If you enable iCloud sync, your data will be synchronized across your devices through Apple’s iCloud service.
- Storage location: Data is stored in your personal iCloud account.
- Access: We cannot access any data in your iCloud.
- Data sovereignty: For users in mainland China, iCloud data is operated by GCBD and protected by Chinese laws and regulations.
3. Statistical and analytics data (anonymous)
Section titled “3. Statistical and analytics data (anonymous)”To improve the app experience and fix crashes, we may collect anonymous, non-personally identifiable statistical data.
- Content collected: App version, device model, operating system version, crash logs, and feature usage frequency.
- Purpose: Used only for product improvement and troubleshooting, never for advertising tracking or sale.
- Your rights: You can turn off anonymous statistical data sending at any time in the app settings.
4. Health data (Apple HealthKit)
Section titled “4. Health data (Apple HealthKit)”If you authorize Knoself to access health data, we will read your sleep, exercise intensity, mindfulness minutes, and date of birth.
- Purpose: This data helps us analyze how energy levels relate to daily life and records, so you can understand your physical and mental state more gently.
- Storage location: This sensitive data is stored securely only locally on your iOS device and in your personal iCloud account.
- Access: We understand the importance of this information. Unless you actively export, copy, screenshot, or share related records through system sharing, we cannot access, collect, or upload your health data to any third-party servers. You have full control and can adjust or revoke authorization at any time in the iOS Health app or system settings.
5. Reminders data (optional)
Section titled “5. Reminders data (optional)”If you authorize Knoself to access Reminders, we will read reminder content within the scope you select or authorize, so timers and time records can be associated with specific reminders.
- Purpose: To help you record how much time a reminder actually takes, review your schedule and task investment more accurately, and gradually improve your rhythm of life.
- Storage location: Related linked records are stored only locally on your iOS device and in your personal iCloud account.
- Access: You can adjust or revoke Reminders authorization at any time in iOS system settings. Unless you actively export, copy, screenshot, or share related records through system sharing, we cannot access, collect, or upload your Reminders data to any third-party servers.
6. Data actively shared to third-party large-model apps
Section titled “6. Data actively shared to third-party large-model apps”Knoself supports sharing your time records, micro journals, exported content, or reflection prompts to third-party large-model apps or other third-party apps you choose, so you can review from different perspectives, such as “Three Things” or KPT (Keep / Problem / Try).
- Actively triggered: This type of sharing must be initiated by you, for example through iOS system sharing, copy and paste, file export, or opening a third-party app. Knoself will not automatically send your records to third-party large-model services in the background.
- Data that may be included: The content you share may include task names, time records, micro journals, tags, reflection text, mood or state descriptions, and other context you actively choose to include.
- Processing after leaving Knoself: Once you send data to a third-party large-model app, that data will be processed by the third-party app and its service provider according to their privacy policy, terms of service, and model training policy. Some third-party services may use your input for model training, product improvement, manual review, log retention, or security risk control, depending on the service and settings you choose.
- Your choice: Before sharing, please carefully read the privacy policy and data use notices of the third-party large-model app, and avoid sharing identity documents, contact details, health privacy, financial information, trade secrets, other people’s personal information, or other sensitive content that you do not want third parties to process.
- Our scope of control: Knoself cannot control how third-party large-model apps store, use, delete, or train on data you share, and cannot promise on behalf of third parties that the data will not be used for training.
II. Possible sharing, transfer, or disclosure of personal information

Section titled “Sharing”Without your consent, we will not share your personal information with any third party, except in the following cases:
- Core functions: Sharing some necessary information with partners and third parties, such as using third-party SDKs for crash analysis. See the “Third-party services” section for details.
- Sharing initiated by you: When you send data from Knoself to a third-party app, including third-party large-model apps, through system sharing, copying, exporting, or other methods, that sharing is controlled and confirmed by you.
- Legal and regulatory requirements: In accordance with laws, regulations, or mandatory government requirements.
Transfer
Section titled “Transfer”As our business develops, we may carry out mergers, acquisitions, or asset transfers. In such transactions, we will require the new company or organization that holds your information to continue to be bound by this Privacy Policy.
Disclosure
Section titled “Disclosure”We disclose your personal information only in the following cases:
- We have obtained your explicit consent.
- Disclosure is required by law.
III. How we retain, store, and protect your personal information

Section titled “Data security technical measures”We adopt security protection measures that meet industry standards to prevent unauthorized access, modification, or damage to data.
- Device-level security: Relying on the strict sandbox mechanism and security protection of iOS.
- Cloud security: If iCloud is used, data transmission and storage are encrypted, and security is guaranteed by Apple.
Security incident handling
Section titled “Security incident handling”Although we store almost none of your personal data, if a security incident occurs, we will notify you in a timely manner in accordance with laws and regulations and take remedial measures.
IV. How to manage your personal information

Section titled “Access, correction, and deletion”You have full control over your data:
- Local data: You can view, modify, or delete your journals and records in the app at any time. After deletion, local data will be cleared immediately.
- Uninstalling the app: Uninstalling the app will clear all locally stored data.
Revoking authorization
Section titled “Revoking authorization”You can turn off permissions granted to Knoself, such as notifications, photos, or calendar access, at any time through system settings.
Account cancellation
Section titled “Account cancellation”Because Knoself does not require account registration, there is no account cancellation process. You can stop using and uninstall the app.
V. Third-party services and sharing with third-party large-model apps
Section titled “V. Third-party services and sharing with third-party large-model apps”To provide better services, we have integrated the following third-party SDKs. These SDKs collect only necessary anonymous device information and do not include your journal content.

- Purpose: Count app activity and analyze feature usage to optimize the product.
- Information collected: Device information (IMEI/MAC/IDFA/OpenUDID/GUID/SIM IMSI), network information, and coarse location information.

- Purpose: Monitor app crashes in real time to help developers quickly find and fix bugs.
- Information collected: Crash logs, device identifiers, operating system version, and network type.

Notice about third-party large-model apps
Section titled “Notice about third-party large-model apps”When you actively use reflection prompts, exported text, sharing entries, or templates to bring records into a third-party large-model app for reflection, the relevant data will leave Knoself and enter the third-party app or service you choose. Knoself does not operate these third-party large-model services, and will not create accounts with third-party services for you, automatically upload data, or read content returned by third parties.
Please understand:
- The data collection, retention, deletion, training, and manual review rules of third-party large-model apps are determined by that third-party service’s own privacy policy and terms of service.
- Reflections, summaries, suggestions, or analysis generated by third-party large models may be inaccurate, incomplete, or biased, and are for reference only.
- If you need medical, psychological, legal, financial, investment, or other professional advice, please consult a qualified professional and do not rely solely on third-party large-model output.
- If you do not want certain records to be processed by third-party services or potentially used for model training, please do not share those records with third-party large-model apps.
Data cross-border transfer description
Section titled “Data cross-border transfer description”According to the requirements of the Personal Information Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China and the Measures for Security Assessment of Data Exports, we hereby state:
1. iCloud data storage location
Section titled “1. iCloud data storage location”- Mainland China users: Your iCloud data is operated by Guizhou Cloud Big Data Industry Development Co., Ltd., and the data is stored within China, protected by Chinese laws and regulations.
- Users in other regions: The data storage location follows Apple’s iCloud service terms. Please refer to Apple’s Privacy Policy for details.
2. Third-party SDK data flow
Section titled “2. Third-party SDK data flow”- Umeng Analytics SDK: Data is stored on servers within China, operated by Umeng Tongxin (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd.
- Bugly SDK: Data is stored on servers within China, operated by Tencent Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.
3. Data export
Section titled “3. Data export”Important commitment: Your core record data, such as journals and time records, will not be exported overseas.
- Locally stored data remains entirely on your device.
- Data synchronized through iCloud for mainland China users is stored on GCBD servers in China.
- Anonymous statistical data collected by third-party SDKs is stored on servers in China.
If special circumstances require data export, we will strictly abide by relevant laws and regulations and obtain your explicit consent in advance.
VI. Permissions requested in the app
Section titled “VI. Permissions requested in the app”We need to request the following system permissions to provide specific functions. We promise to request permissions only when you use related functions and will not abuse permissions.

Access system photo library / write to photo library
- Purpose: When you add photo attachments to your journal or save generated long images locally.
- Necessity: If refused, you will not be able to upload photos or save shared images.

Use camera
- Purpose: When you take photos directly and insert them into your journal.
- Necessity: If refused, you will not be able to use the camera function.

Access calendar
- Purpose: To import your calendar events into Knoself and help associate them with time records.
- Necessity: If refused, calendar events cannot be synchronized.

Access Reminders
- Purpose: To read reminders within your authorized scope and associate timers or time records with the corresponding reminders, helping you understand how much time each reminder actually takes and improve your time planning.
- Necessity: This is an optional permission. If refused, you can still manually record and review time, but you cannot import or associate system reminders or automatically summarize time spent by reminder.

Notification permission
- Purpose: To send reminders you set, such as daily reviews or recording reminders.
- Necessity: If refused, you will not receive reminder notifications.

Read phone identifier (Tracking)
- Purpose: Used for Umeng/Bugly analytics to help identify user counts and deduplicate crash devices.
- Necessity: This is an optional permission. You can turn it off in system settings.

Access health data (HealthKit)
- Purpose: Read sleep, exercise, mindfulness, and birth date data to provide correlation analysis between energy and life.
- Necessity: This is an optional permission. If you want to understand yourself more comprehensively, you can enable it. If refused, you can still use other core functions of Knoself normally, but you will not see energy-related analysis suggestions.
VII. Notification and revision of this Privacy Policy
Section titled “VII. Notification and revision of this Privacy Policy”We may modify the terms of this Privacy Policy from time to time. For major changes, we will provide prominent notifications, such as in-app pop-ups or red dot prompts. If you continue to use Knoself Services, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.
