Feature Overview
Knoself connects planning, timing, time logs, and review. It is not a background monitoring tool: every record begins with a period or plan you deliberately choose to track.
Multiple Ways to Start
Section titled “Multiple Ways to Start”Start inside the app or use the Action Button, Home Screen widgets, Lock Screen and Live Activity, Today reminders widget, Apple Watch, an in-app task, or a system calendar event.
See How to Start Time Tracking Quickly to choose an entry point for each situation.
What a Record Can Hold
Section titled “What a Record Can Hold”During or after a timer, add:
- A title, notes, and thoughts from the moment.
- Tags for projects, contexts, state, energy, mood, or any other dimension.
- Photos and related time cards.
- Adjusted start and end times.
- A thought trail created when you revisit the record later.
A time card can therefore preserve not only how long something took, but what was happening around it.
Tasks and Calendar
Section titled “Tasks and Calendar”Knoself tasks support dates, times, repeats, alerts, photos, and tags. View them in a weekly agenda or board and start timing from the task itself.
Copy text, a link, ticket, itinerary, or meeting screenshot to create a task from the clipboard. Image text recognition runs on the device and lets you verify the title and times before saving. Archive unused task lists and restore them later.
With system calendar permission on iPhone and iPad, you can view events and start timing from one. Finished records can also be written to the calendar when you choose. Mac can import incomplete Apple Reminders as a one-time copy; changes are not synced back.
See Start From Reminders and Calendar Events for the complete flow.
Health Data
Section titled “Health Data”With permission on iPhone, import sleep, workout, and mindfulness periods from Apple Health and assign a default tag to each type. Imported periods appear beside manual records in the timeline and review.
Mac cannot initiate Apple Health import. Setup and privacy details are in Import Apple Health Data.
See That Moment: Bring Back the Context
Open See That Moment from a time record to find photos and videos taken around that period, alongside the apps used during the record, their durations, and their share of the time. Expand the photo range from the exact period to nearby moments or the whole day when you need a little more context.
Photos are read from your library only after you open See That Moment and are never edited or deleted. Screen activity appears only in an on-device, read-only view. It is not written to the time record or uploaded.
On iPhone, the report can also include Mac activity when System Settings → Screen Time → Share Across Devices is enabled on the Mac. System syncing may take a little time.
For both entry points, visual examples, and the complete privacy boundaries, see Use See That Moment.
Daily Highlights, Charts, and Review
Daily Highlights selects past time cards so you can revisit earlier effort, thoughts, and context. Add a fresh reflection without replacing the original, or exclude tags you do not want to see again.
Period reviews include time breakdowns, 24-hour distribution, yearly heatmaps, tags, and task statistics, with access to the time cards behind each chart. For deeper analysis, choose Three Good Things, Deep Reflection, KPT, 4P, or a custom method, then send the prepared content to a third-party AI app when you decide.
See Daily Highlights and Review for the workflow and sharing boundaries.
Local-first, Multi-device, and Export
Section titled “Local-first, Multi-device, and Export”- No account required: start as soon as the app opens.
- Local-first: records stay on the current device by default.
- Optional iCloud: sync across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
- Deliberate sharing: JSON, ZIP, images, and review content leave only after you export or share them.
