The name Knoself comes from “Know Thyself.”
Why Build Knoself?
Section titled “Why Build Knoself?”It began as a personal attempt to answer two questions.
First: each year can be full of activity while important intentions still remain unfinished. Where did the time actually go, and was the problem an unrealistic goal or the way attention was allocated?
Second: information is easy to collect, especially with AI, but collecting an answer is not the same as forming your own thought. Knoself was created to preserve both real time and the thinking that happened within it.
There are many timer and note-taking apps. Knoself connects the two while keeping the resulting data under your control, available to export or share only when you choose.
Design Principles

Section titled “Minimal Effort”Tracking should not become another burden. Common entries are designed to take as few actions as possible.
Local First
Section titled “Local First”Your records belong to you. They remain on your device by default, with optional iCloud Sync.
Meet Yourself in Time
Section titled “Meet Yourself in Time”Knoself is more than a timer. Looking back at real effort, context, and reflection can reveal the shape of a life more clearly.
