5-Minute Quick Start
1. Finish One Simple Record
Section titled “1. Finish One Simple Record”Open Knoself and start a timer. Stop and save when the activity ends. Add a title, tags, notes, or photos during the timer or afterward.
2. Add Only One Shortcut
Section titled “2. Add Only One Shortcut”Do not configure everything at once. Choose the entry point that fits best:
- iPhone in hand: Action Button.
- Fixed activities: Home Screen tag widget.
- Something already planned: a reminder or system calendar event.
- Phone is inconvenient: Apple Watch.
- Working at a Mac: desktop task and menu bar timer.
See How to Start Time Tracking Quickly for the full comparison.
3. Create Tasks Only When You Need a Plan
Section titled “3. Create Tasks Only When You Need a Plan”Create reminders for activities that truly need scheduling, with dates, repeats, alerts, and tags. Start timing from the task so planned work and real effort stay connected.
4. Review When You Want Understanding
Section titled “4. Review When You Want Understanding”Daily Highlights is for a gentle revisit of one old card. Period review is for time breakdowns, 24-hour distribution, heatmaps, and task effort. Review does not need to become a daily obligation.
5. Decide Whether Data Should Cross Devices
Section titled “5. Decide Whether Data Should Cross Devices”Records remain local by default. Enable iCloud when you want one data set across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Export JSON or ZIP deliberately when you need a backup.
