Why Track Sleep

Sleep occupies a substantial part of life and strongly shapes the context around waking time. Leaving it out can make a daily timeline look complete while missing its largest recovery period.

Duration is useful as a broad signal across several days, not as a verdict on one night. The pattern of when sleep begins and ends can also help explain changes in energy, attention, and mood.

Health guidance varies by age and individual needs. If sleep problems are persistent or affect daily life, use professional medical advice rather than an app chart as the basis for decisions.

Knoself can import sleep periods from Apple Health when you grant permission. If you use sleep tracking on iPhone or Apple Watch, those periods can appear beside work, reading, exercise, and other records without another manual timer.

See Import Apple Health Data for setup.

Knoself places imported sleep on the timeline but does not score it. Consumer sensors provide estimates, and a number may not match how restored or tired you feel.

Sleep itself matters more than producing perfect sleep data.
